Finish-a-thon 2008 Master List

Here is the Official Master-List post for the 2008 Finish-a-thon. Stories are now due.

Participants, please give the link (and title) of your completed (or partially completed) stories in comments to this post. I will update the master list accordingly.

Fantastic finished yay!
AstroGirl [info]astrogirl2:
Fandom: Doctor Who
Story: Within, the Enemy
Description: AU from the TV movie in which the Master succeeds in taking over the Doctor's body, but the Doctor's mind is still in there somewhere.
Type: gen
Rating: Um... PGish? PG-13, maybe?

Azar [info]azarsuerte:
Fandom: Doctor Who/The Chronicles of Narnia
Story: From a World More Full of Weeping
Description: Set post-"Journey's End": while chasing a dragon-like alien loose in 1950s England, the Doctor meets and gains the assistance of a young woman named Susan Pevensie, whom he subsequently invites to travel with him. It doesn't take long for the Doctor and Susan to realize that both of them identify a little too closely with each other's demons--together can they start to lay some of those demons to rest and find their way home? The whole thing sprang out of an image of Susan being spectacularly unimpressed with the TARDIS because her sister "once found an entire country in the back of a wardrobe."
Mostly just in my head at this point, although there's one scene I have written and re-written a few times (the one I mention above).
Type: gen
Rating: PG at worst

BlackEyedGirl [info]black_eyedgirl:
Fandom: Torchwood/Doctor Who
Story: Sixteen miles to the Promised Land
Description: The Doctor pays a visit to earth to find the only people left on it are Jack, who can't die, and Owen, who's already dead. Angsty TARDIS hijinks ensue.
Type: slash
Rating: PG13

Kalquessa [info]kalquessa:
Fandom: Narnian Chronicles
Story: By Sun and Candlelight
Description: My own take on Susan during and after The Last Battle. First bit posted here.
(working title: "The Archer Queen")
Type: gen
Rating: G

Kathryn Andersen [info]kerravonsen:
Fandom: Doctor Who
Story: How the Winds Are Laughing
Description: Lance is dead, H. C. Clemens is dead, her place of work is closed down. Is this some kind of joke? If it is, it's not funny, and Donna is going to find the person responsible and give them a piece of her mind. (A post-"Journey's End" Donna-fixit story.)
Type: gen
Rating: PG

Marian [info]entropy_house:
Fandom: Forever Knight/Blake's 7
Story: Still In the Dark
Description: A Forever Knight/Blakes 7 crossover (operating on the assumption that he's still around however far in the future B7 goes- I'm ignoring FK's ending.) I have NO idea, no plot, just think that a remorseful vampire would be fun in the dystrophian SF universe.
Type: slash
Rating: PG

Nicola Mody [info]vilakins:
Fandom: Blake's 7
Story: Anthropology
Description: A PGP in which Vila takes Orac and uses it to sabotage the Federation. However Vila is unwell due to his injuries and refuses to see a doctor--and Avon is also looking for him.
Type: gen
Rating: PG13

The RCK [info]therck:
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia/Secret Garden
Story: Changeling
Description: Dickon does his best to remember that he used to be a Prince of Narnia.
I know the first sentence or three. Committing to completion.
Type: gen
Rating: G

Zenia [info]blakefancier:
Fandom: Blakes 7
Story: As Once the Winged Energy of Delight
Description: That Blake/Zen fic that I keep playing with but haven't seriously worked on yet. Mostly it's Zen courting Blake and how their relationship affects the others.
Type: Slash? Again, this is questionable since Zen's a ship.
Rating: PG-13

Fantastic -- wrote the installment they'd committed to:

Bravely posted unfinished:
Bewize [info]wizefics:
Fandom: Iron Man/Terminator: SCC
Story: The Zeroth Law
Description: Tony Stark likes computers. And women. When he meets someone who is both, it blows his mind.
Type: gen
Rating: PG13

Gray Cardinal [info]graycardinal:
Fandom: Shakespeare/Muppets
Story: A Midsummer Day's Nightmare
Description: Oberon's straying again. Kermit's overseeing a Muppet Theater production of "Midsummer Night's Dream". Titania casts a spell....
Type: gen (veering slightly into het)
Rating: PG

Izhilzha [info]izhilzha:
Fandom: Supernatural
Story: Each Should Carry
Description: A few days after the events of "Heart," the Winchesters find themselves in Ashland, Ohio, where kids are vanishing into thin air. Dean starts having debilitating headaches; are they connected to the case, or to the Yellow-Eyed Demon, or to something else entirely? (My betas know this as my visions!Dean story.) I'll commit to at least the 10,000 words.
Type: gen
Rating: R (language, violence, disturbing images)

Jedi Buttercup [info]jedibuttercup:
Fandom: Firefly, themes from B:tVS
Story: Book's Legacy
Description: "Mal recieves a mysterious package, leading the crew of Serenity on a voyage of discovery. Into every generation..." Book was a Watcher; River is a Slayer; so what does that mean for Mal's crew?
(will add 10,000 words)
Currently 24,700 words as of Jan 25, 2007. Archived at [info]watching_river.
Type: gen & het
Rating: PG-15

NetGirl Y2K [info]netgirl_y2k:
Fandom: Doctor Who
Story: The Memory Remains
Description: Post Journey's End. There's something sinister and not quite human lurking in the IT department of the office. Donna Noble doesn't believe in aliens, she doesn't know anything about stopping planetary invasions and she's got a year missing from her memory. But she is the only one who knows how the photocopier works and that's got to count for something.
Type: Gen
Rating: G

Raedbard [info]raedbard:
Fandom: The West Wing
Story: Indiana Cregg
Description: A semi-comic, semi-serious rip-off of the Indiana Jones movies, starring the fab four from the West Wing. CJ Cregg as the intrepid adventurer, Toby Ziegler as her reluctant companion, Sam Seaborn as the naively adventurous journalist who tags along and Josh Lyman as (I haven't worked out this dynamic yet!) either the 'damsel' in distress or the 'native' guide. Adventures abound.
Type: Gen with a side of slash.
Rating: up to R, I'd have thought, no higher.

Gold star for trying:
Caro Dee [info]carodee
Rubynye [info]rubynye
S [info]infiniteviking
Trinity Day [info]trinityday
Van [info]van

Wheeeeee!

Done and here: As Once the Winged Energy of Delight. Also, it wound up being PG-13.

October 29 2008, 14:49:31 UTC 3 years ago

Done and posted. "Changeling" is here: http://www.therck.org/changeling.html

It's rated G and quite thoroughly work safe.

Done! By Sun and Candlelight.

I had posted it today, but somehow I missed seeing the multific post. [info]blakefancier just reminded me, and I had to hunt back for it. Sorry!

It's titled: Still in the Dark
and it's here http://entropy-house.livejournal.com/837521.html

I'm not really sure about ratings- it's explicit slash, but like-- 2 sentences with no naughty bits or naughty words. But on the other hand, there's a guy in love with a guy...

My brain is very confused.

Nicola Mody [info]vilakins
Fandom: Blake's 7
Story: Anthropology
Description: A PGP in which Vila takes Orac and uses it to sabotage the Federation. In the meantime, Avon is looking for him.
Type: gen
Rating: PG

[Edit] Changed the link to my journal entry, sorry.

I know it's my typo in the original list of choices, but could you please alter my description to read as follows, without the snippet:

A PGP in which Vila takes Orac and uses it to sabotage the Federation. However Vila is unwell due to his injuries and refuses to see a doctor--and Avon is also looking for him.

OK, here's mine: "Within, the Enemy". And, subtext notwithstanding, it did end up being on the gen side of the gen/slash divide, after all. :)

Acts I through III of A Midsummer Day's Nightmare are posted; the rest should be up either later today/tonight or, at worst via Sunday (Saturday will be Very Busy here), but I wanted to get this much up within deadline. The musical number was the sticky bit....

The Memory Remains (1/2) Bring posted unfinished because it got away from me a bit and I'm going to take the weekend to tweak part two.

Despite my utter failure I still think this is a cracking idea for a ficathon, thanks for running it.

[info]kerravonsen

October 31 2008, 21:30:13 UTC 3 years ago

Thank you!

And it wasn't utter failure, it would be utter failure if you hadn't written anything and hadn't bothered to contact me. That is utter failure.

October 31 2008, 22:13:12 UTC 3 years ago

Okay, my story isn't done yet, but I'm posting what I have. Hopefully I'll have another 3,000 words or so typed up (I have them longhand) by the end of the grace week, but this is what I've got right now:

Each Should Carry (unfinished)

[info]izhilzha

November 8 2008, 08:23:11 UTC 3 years ago

I managed to type up one more scene, for a total of not-quite 5,000 words. (New to the Finishathon, that is.)

At least it wasn't utter fail, like last year! :-)

October 31 2008, 23:13:43 UTC 3 years ago

Hi, sorry! I was really sure I'd manage to get this last problematic block of plot fixed, but it's escaping me. I've posted what I have here, because I didn't want you to think I'd just disappeared without word. I'll polish it up and post the last scenes soonish I hope. Sorry again.

[info]kerravonsen

October 31 2008, 23:28:54 UTC 3 years ago

Thanks! I've got you as "posted unfinished", but if you finish, then I can change that.

[info]black_eyedgirl

November 1 2008, 02:26:59 UTC 3 years ago

Okay, done now! Still a bit unpolished, but has closing scenes and all, which helps I think ;)

Oh, and the rating went down to PG-13, mostly because the slashiness stayed pretty much in the background.

[info]wizefics

November 1 2008, 03:34:37 UTC 3 years ago

Well. I didn't finish the whole thing, but I did get part 1 finished and posted. And I'm hoping it will only be two parts total.

*fails, but still pleased to have finished some of it!*

The Zeroth Law: Part I.

[info]raedbard

November 1 2008, 04:38:15 UTC 3 years ago

What I have so far, is up over here. As I say in the notes, it need a *lot* more words which I can't commit to right now. :( But this was still a fantastic idea for a ficathon and fun was had.

[info]kerravonsen

November 1 2008, 05:49:19 UTC 3 years ago

Hey, at least you tried. And bravely posted.

[info]azarsuerte

November 1 2008, 05:59:56 UTC 3 years ago Edited:  November 1 2008, 06:00:18 UTC

Bleagh. I'm not happy with it, and will probably do some MAJOR rewrites at some point in the future, but it's here.

It probably would've been done on time if I hadn't lost three days of precious writing time to jury duty. o_0 (Bitter, who me? ;-) )

[info]van

November 1 2008, 06:25:56 UTC 3 years ago

I didn't get my fic finished and I'd rather not post the 1900 words or so I did get on it as they're unbetaed and need heavy revision. I don't know if I need to do anything else to "drop" or whatever.

[info]jedibuttercup

November 1 2008, 08:23:03 UTC 3 years ago

Well, I do have a bit done, but it's not up yet. I'd point you at them now, but I just got in-- my day was a bit longer than I expected-- and I'm dead tired. Give me a few hours to sleep first. =)

[info]jedibuttercup

November 2 2008, 06:20:31 UTC 3 years ago

So: yeah. 2,500 words of it, unbetaed:

http://community.livejournal.com/watching_river/3360.html

Not entirely happy with it, as it's mostly unweildy exposition, but oh well. *sigh*
